The central government has extended the scheme of free foodgrains distribution to the poor by 4 more years, which means that now the poor will get free foodgrains till 2028. In the meeting of the Union Cabinet, approval has also been given to continue the supply of fortified rice under all government schemes including Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana from July 2024 to December 2028. Four lakh people of Rajasthan will be benefited from this.

Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the rice fortification initiative will continue with 100 percent nutrition as part of food subsidy. The Center has allocated Rs 17082 crore for the supply of fortified rice under all welfare schemes. This will benefit 80 crore people of the country.

Free Ration Gift Check

The beneficiaries of food security now only have time till 31 October, before which it is mandatory to complete e-KYC, otherwise the beneficiaries will be out of the scheme. On the orders of the Supreme Court and the instructions of the Government of India, the Bhajan Lal government of the state can remove the name of such beneficiaries from the food security list who have not got e-KYC done before time.
